Also used in the preparation of bread, cakes, puddings, flans, custards, pastry creams, sponge cakes, ice cream and to thicken sauces, soups, stews, and creams. It’s suitable for gluten-free diets. Maizena gives a rich consistency to gravies and stock.  Always dissolve maizena in a little cold water before adding it to warm liquid. How to use Maizena:

• Baking: For lighter pies and cakes, use 1 part maizena for every 3 parts of flour
• Cooking: Use maizena for all casseroles and smooth sauces
